It is no longer news that as the 2023 general elections draw near, candidates are making earnest preparations for the elections, while some are clogged by litigations or court matters, hence to fine-tune their pursuits before the deadline by INEC for parties and candidates to put their houses in order.

It is evident that one of the bigwigs who needed to put his house in order was the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Ex- Minister and a Senator, Mr. Godswill Obot Akpabio as his name was not published as eligible candidate for election by INEC

Consequently, the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja in its decision today, delivered its pre-election judgment in favour of the Ex-Governor mandating the INEC to publish the name of Akpabio as the APC Candidate for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District for the forthcoming general elections.

In reaction to this, while speaking with Correspondents of SupremeLaw News, the Uyo-based Public Affairs Analyst, Mr Meti M. Ukpeh said thus: " I congratulate the uncommon transformer, GSM Godswill Akpabio for the victory in court. Indeed, it is a victory for the Akwa Ibom Northwest and all Akwa Ibomites. It's is indeed a victory for the rule of law, hence the judiciary is truly the hope of the common man.

I support persona not political party. Akpabio is the next senator for the Ikot Ekpen Sen. Dist., others will only scramble for one or two votes. The man is well loved by his people and evidently seen as the veritable voice for his people.".

[Uyo-based Human Rights Lawyer ] In Nigeria, beyond the Superior Courts of record recognized by the Constitution of Nigeria(as amended), there exist several other layers of courts, most of which exist by dint of the laws of the various states.
