Meti Monday Ukpeh Engages NBA Abuja Branch, the Nation’s Legal Nerve Centre

The founder of Legal Digest, and also past YLF Chairman, Uyo Branch engaged members of the Abuja branch of the Nigerian Bar Association. Speaking with individual memebers, Meti continues to advocate for greater inclusion of young lawyers in the leadership and administrative structures of the Bar both at the National and Branches, stressing that the future of the Bar depends on deliberate grooming of the next generation.

Speaking during his consultative visit to the branch, Ukpeh emphasized that young lawyers should be given meaningful opportunities to serve within branch and national working committees of the NBA, not merely as observers, but as active contributors to policy, planning, and implementation.

According to him, sustainable progress within the Bar requires intentional leadership succession, where younger practitioners are exposed to responsibility, institutional processes, and decision-making early enough to prepare them for future leadership roles.

He noted that senior lawyers have played a crucial role in building the Bar into what it is today and commended their sacrifices, mentorship, and commitment to preserving the dignity of the profession. He, however, stressed that preserving that legacy requires creating pathways for younger lawyers to learn directly from experienced leaders through practical involvement.

Ukpeh maintained that inclusion is not just about representation but about continuity, capacity-building, and institutional strength. He urged the Bar to remain deliberate in creating structures that accommodate emerging lawyers, ensuring that the momentum, values, and standards of the NBA are sustained for generations to come.
